I have a tattoo of this guy on my back.  His name is Mahakala.  He’s a Tibetan protection diety.  His ferocious look represents the vigor of spirit required to face one’s inner demons while in deep meditative states.  Many times, while on silent meditation retreats, I have found myself face-to-face with my own inner demons and in very real ways invoked the strength and protection of Mahakala to help me stay the course.  It’s nice to know he’s got my back as long as I’m on this Earth.
